My First Experience With Writer’s Block As a Blogger

I have been really struggling to create content since returning to school. I have honestly had one of the hardest starts to the school year yet that involved some personal struggles with my mental health. That combined with an overwhelming workload has left me speechless when I try to write. Luckily as time has gone on it has gotten much better and I am starting to find happiness again but it really has affected my blog negatively over the past few month. Every time I sit down to write, I can’t find a subject matter that I am happy with and I am constantly searching for the “perfect topic” that I can’t seem to find. The same issue has run over into my Instagram account and I have never be less active on the app. I really wanted to get this off my chest because it is so weird to be to go full months without posting. I have been doing this for years and this is the first time this type of self-criticism has gotten to me. The negative effects of this experience are that my numbers have dropped like crazy after they had just spiked to amazing levels and my earnings have dropped as well.

I am writing about this to really get it off my chest but also for anyone else who has experienced this issue. Life always has its ups and downs so I am hoping that as my mood levels are going up my organization does too and I can get back to being as active on my site as I once was. I am not sure I want to blog full time still but I want to carry this site with me as a journal of my life and experiences as I continue to grow and learn.

I spent an afternoon in Chicago during this quiet time and was able to get back into shooting again which I am so grateful for. Getting back into a city full of life and inspiration was amazing. I got some great photos there so instead of speaking 1,000 words as usual; I want to let the images speak for themselves.

Normally blog posts take me a full week to write so it was refreshing to return to this simple format that I used to use not that long ago. Thank you for reading! x
